Some advisors understand financial transitions professionally. Mark Johnson understands them personally.

Mark’s story begins the way many great ones do — with early promise and relentless drive. As a competitive swimmer at Corunna High School, he earned a Michigan Class B State Championship in the 100-yard breaststroke. At Eastern Michigan University, he became a Mid-American Conference Champion and team captain — someone who knew what discipline, preparation, and pushing through discomfort looked like from the inside. He carried that same drive into adulthood, pursuing a law degree from Syracuse University College of Law with ambitions of becoming a contract negotiator for Detroit’s Big Three automakers.

Then life happened.

He didn’t pass the bar exam — not once, but three times. It was, by his own account, crushing. But rather than stay defeated, he pivoted. He moved into real estate, discovered he could work half the hours and earn twice the income, and realized something important about himself: he was an entrepreneur. That chapter also brought his first marriage, his son Grey, and eventually a divorce that left him carrying multiple tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt and sitting across from a credit counselor trying to figure out how to rebuild. He was starting over — financially, professionally, and personally — all at once.

He knows what that feels like. Not theoretically. Actually.

What followed wasn’t a straight line back up. A second marriage brought years of emotional abuse that Mark endured far longer than he should have — fourteen years in a relationship that cost him more than he can fully measure. When it finally ended, the divorce itself became its own eighteen-month battle. As a business owner, Mark faced the very real threat of losing everything he had built — his company, his livelihood, his future. He understands firsthand what it means to sit across a table while someone tries to dismantle what you’ve spent years creating. And yet, even in that difficult season, life continued to grow. He earned his MBA, welcomed an adopted son in Colin, and had two more children — August and Lily. He didn’t want that marriage to end. But some chapters close in ways we never planned, and what matters most is what we choose to do next.

That season also deepened something in him — a capacity for empathy, for sitting with people in painful and complicated circumstances without flinching, and for understanding that financial decisions and life decisions are almost always the same decision.

Today, Mark is in a different chapter entirely — and it’s the one he’s most proud of. He is married to Laura, his partner in every sense of the word. Together they lead a large blended family, navigating the beautiful and difficult work of healing, growth, and moving forward with intention. Laura recently released her book — I Am the Other Woman — a candid, grace-filled account of how someone deeply committed to their values can still fall, and what it looks like to own that, accept forgiveness, and reclaim your identity on the other side. It is not a story of brokenness. It is a testimony to what grace can do. Together, Mark and Laura believe that living openly — even about the hard things — is how you give your life meaning beyond yourself.

That belief is at the heart of everything Mark does professionally.

After building his career across real estate, financial planning, and legal study, Mark founded Reviresco Financial Planning & Wealth Management in Monroe, Michigan — a firm whose name says everything. Reviresco is Latin for “I grow strong again.” It is a word about renewal. About second chances. About the stubborn, beautiful persistence of new strength after a hard season.

Mark holds one of the most comprehensive credential stacks in his field — CFP®, AEP®, CEPA®, BFA™, CDFA®, JD, MBA — spanning financial planning, estate planning, business exit strategy, behavioral finance, and divorce financial analysis. But what truly sets him apart isn’t the alphabet behind his name. It’s the life in front of it.

He has walked through financial crisis, professional failure, the end of marriages, the slow work of rebuilding, and the hard-won joy of a life reclaimed. When he sits across from someone facing their own consequential transition — a retirement, a business exit, a divorce, a death — he isn’t just their advisor. He is someone who genuinely understands what it costs to navigate a major life change, and what it means to come out the other side with clarity, purpose, and solid ground beneath your feet.

That’s why he does this work. And that’s why it matters.
